Book Shelves

Have you got a few old books at home that you don’t need anymore, but you’re reluctant to get rid of?  Try this do it yourself project: turn those books into a decorative shelf. All you’ll need is a hardback book, a few L-shaped corner brackets, and a drill with screws.  Start by choosing your favorite hardback book, and then measure the length of the binding.  Use a ruler to mark the length on the wall and then mark 1 and a half to two inches inside of those (this is where you’ll hang your corner brackets).  Once you’ve screwed in the corner brackets, place the book on top of them and use a ruler to measure the center point of the book.  Drill and hang a smaller l-shaped corner bracket at the top center point to stabilize your shelf.  Since the book is not ruined in the process, you get a crafty shelf that can still be re-read over and over.
