Disposable Fashion

Earthsense

The media has been abuzz recently with the effects of disposable fashion on the industry at large and it’s not a pretty picture.  Many of the clothes we buy are made in sweat shops abroad where working conditions are unsafe and where workers aren’t making a livable wage.

When you add the cost of pesticides used to produce cotton fibers and harsh chemicals used to dye leathers and fibers, the health costs for people living where our clothes are produced becomes even more inequitable.  There seems to be a real push for sustainable and fair trade clothing and it’s about time!  Some designers and large labels are beginning to make the leap to sustainability, but there are also a growing number of smaller companies answering the call for eco friendly fashion.  When shopping, look for organic cottons from brands you trust.  Choose quality over quantity and put an end to disposable fashion.
