Do you need a new roof?

Earthsense

Staying on top of general home maintenance is a good way to avoid potentially expensive repairs, but there’s no way to avoid the big repairs, like replacing your roof.

Knowing when your current roof was installed, and what material it is, can offer insight into how much life it has left.  If you think it may be time for a new roof, the first place to begin your inspection is in the attic.  Look for any water damage or stains which can be an indication of a leak.  A general inspection, especially after heavy storms, checking for cracked, buckling, or damaged shingles can tip you off to possible repairs that are needed.  The flashing around vents, skylights and chimneys are also points where leaks can occur; and moss or mold is a sure sign of trapped moisture which should be addressed immediately.  When in doubt, call a licensed roofing contractor who can tell you if repairs will suffice or if you need a new roof!
