Dust Free Home

Earthsense

For those who suffer from allergies, asthma, or any other breathing condition, dust can be a real problem.  But there are steps you can take to moderate dust in your home.  Of course, step one is to change that HVAC filter regularly.  Invest in doormats – both exterior and interior to reduce dirt being tracked in from outside.

If you have wall to wall carpeting, consider getting rid of it as it can hold a lot of dust that is stirred every time you take a step.  When it comes to your rugs, take them out for an old fashioned beating consistently.   Be sure you’re regularly grooming indoor pets to reduce dander and fur build up and keep a lid on the litter box as this can help reduce pet-related dust.  Vacuum curtains and upholstery and clean those blinds frequently.  If your allergens are outdoors, then keeping your windows closed will diminish pollen, mold spores, and pollutants inside.  Learn more on the Earth Sense podcast page at South Carolina Public Radio dot org.
