But the important thing to remember here is that home fires are preventable. The first step is to be informed. As you know fires are hot and they spread quickly, but smoke and heat can be just as deadly as the flames. It only takes a few minutes for your home to fill with thick dark smoke. In the case of a fire, there is no time to collect valuables or make phone calls; you should get out of the house as quickly as possible.
