Gov. Haley: "We are about to go through the second big wave."

Gov. Nikki Haley announced at her press conference today that Calhoun, Darlington, Kershaw, and Lee counties had been added to the federal disaster declaration. The list now includes Calhoun, Darlington, Florence, Kershaw, Lee, Berkeley, Charleston, Clarendon, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter and Williamsburg counties.

Damage in Bamberg, Abbeville, and Colleton counties is being assessed by FEMA investigators today. The Governor urged individuals with flood damage not to wait for a declaration of disaster in their area, but to call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362, or go to disasterassitance.govto report damage.

Governor Haley also warned that there will be flooding in the next twelve hours in the Georgetown area that could last up to twelve days. Highways 151 and 261 are already closed; Highways 17 and 701 are about to be closed. In the next 72 hours flooding in the Jamestown area is also likely. Givhans Ferry is expected to rise up to another two feet.
