Hardwood Flooring

Earthsense

Hard wood floors can add warmth and character to any space, but a few common mistakes could be ruining your hardwoods.  For example, using the wrong vacuum attachments could be scratching your floors- opt for the hardwood attachment rather than the beater bar with rotating brushes.

And do vacuum or sweep regularly – dust, dirt, and other abrasive particles can scratch the finish.  Water is a wood floor’s worst enemy because it causes the planks to swell, warp, and separate, so use a barely damp mop and dry the floor completely with a dry towel.  Taking your shoes off when you get home is a good idea to avoid tracking in dirt and other outdoor contaminants, but wearing high heel shoes on your hardwoods can ding and scratch the wood.  Get an entry may and get into the habit of taking off your shoes when you get home.
