How to Dispose of Everything

Earthsense

As you know, there are many items that are now illegal to throw into the landfill either because they contain toxic chemicals, like oil, household cleaners, or paint and paint thinners, or because they contain heavy metals like batteries, cell phones, computers, and electronics.  The question, then, is how do I dispose of these common items?  Most of these items will go to a hazardous waste drop-off site near you.

Cell phones and other electronics contain heavy metals which should not be thrown away either.  Your cellular provider may accept your old cell phone, or you could donate your cell phone to a charity.  Remember to reset the phone to the factory setting or delete all your personal information.  The same is true for computer hard drives- you’ll want to completely wipe the hard drive before you dispose of the computer at your electronics recycling center.
