Make Your Own Household Staples

Earthsense

Household staples like detergents and cleaners are common items on your grocery list, but rather than overpaying for those name brands, you can make your own at home and save some money!  Laundry detergent is so easy and CHEAP to make, stop buying those expensive brands and make your own with washing soda, baking soda and a bar of soap.

Instead of purchasing window cleaner, mix one quarter cup of vinegar, one quarter cup of rubbing alcohol and two cups of water in spray bottle (you can add 10 drops of peppermint oil for a fresh scent).  Clean a drain by pouring a cup of baking soda into the drain, then pour half a cup of vinegar into the drain, and cover with a plate.  The foam and bubbles created when vinegar and baking soda mix will clean the drain.  Stop buying air freshener and make your own by combining one quarter cup of rubbing alcohol with one and a half cups of water, and 30 drops of your favorite essential oil in a spray bottle.
