Plastic Bags

Earthsense

You may be aware that plastic bags and some plastic packaging are not allowed in many curb side recycling bins and the reason is that these bags get stuck in the machinery that sort your recycled material.

Many retail stores and grocery stores are adopting programs through which you can return these plastic bags and film packaging like bread bags, dry cleaning bags, food storage bags and case wrap, to a recycling bin at the store.  Some of this plastic material can be recycled into new packaging or even things like picnic tables and building materials.  But many plastics just aren’t cost effective enough to recycle.  So the best option is to avoid plastic bags and plastic packaging all together.  Keep in mind that plastic bags are among the most prevalent litter found in many eco-systems, and they can wreak havoc on wildlife because they take so long to biodegrade.
