Reduce Household Paper

Earthsense

Think about using alternatives to household paper products.  I’m talking about paper towels, tissues, and toilet paper.  Americans use 741 pounds of paper each year, and 40 per cent of all trash in US landfills consists of paper.  Rather than using all those paper towels, try reusable cloth towels that can be washed with the laundry.  Or use a sponge to clean up kitchen messes- leaving a sponge standing on its side to dry will allow them to dry quickly and reduces odor.

Instead of using all those tissues to blow your nose when you get a cold, try using organic cotton handkerchiefs.  Eliminating one box of virgin tissues per household this year would save more than 150,000 trees.  An ecologically friendly trend that has made a comeback in the last year or so is the cloth diaper.  A growing number of websites are beginning to new and improved versions of them online.
