Tonight at 9:00: Presidential Election Debate and Fact Checker

Tonight's debate will stream live on South Carolina Public Radio at 9:00 pm.

NPR Politics Fact Checker, along with a debate transcript will go live at 9:00 pm.

NPR News will provide live, anchored special coverage and analysis of the 1st Presidential Debate at Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York.   The debate will be moderated by NBC’s Lester Holt and divided into three 30-minute segments:  the direction of America, Achieving Prosperity and Securing America.  Holt will open each segment with a question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. Candidates will then have an opportunity to respond to each other. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a deeper discussion of the topic.
 
All Things Considered host Robert Siegel will anchor the debate Special Coverage from 9:00-11:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  The debate will run 90 minutes without a break.  NPR’s Special Coverage will carry the debate without interruption. After the debate, NPR’s Robert Siegel and NPR reporters will provide analysis and fact-checking until the conclusion of our coverage at 10:59pm ET.  

NPR Politics Fact Checker and a debate transcript will appear below at 7:00 pm and go live at 9:00.
